This is my tried and true mashed potato recipe, a step up from the basic version. More buttery. With garlic.
- 1 russet potato
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
Bring pot of salted water to boil.
Cut potatoes into 1" chunks. Add to boiling water. Boil until a fork easy enters and releases from the potatoes, about 20 minutes. Drain.
Put potatoes into a large bowl. Add butter, salt, pepper, and garlic. Mash using a potato masher or pastry blender.
