McCain Triple Cooked Gastro Chips with balsamic glazed steak

Succulently sweet balsamic-glazed steak with grilled cherry vine tomatoes and fresh rocket, alongside McCain’s Triple Cooked Gastro Chips.

Ingredients

  • • A single layer of McCain Triple Cooked Gastro Chips
  • • 2 steaks (of your choice)
  • • 4 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • • 2 sprigs cherry tomatoes on the vine
  • • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • • 2 handfuls of rocket
  • • Salt and pepper
  • • Extra virgin olive oil
  • • Red wine vinegar

Directions

1. For the McCain Triple Cooked Gastro Chips, preheat the oven to 230°C/Gas Mark 8. For fan assisted ovens, preheat to 220°C.
2. Place the McCain Triple Cooked Gastro Chips on a large deep or heavy roasting tin and cook as per packet instructions.
3. Heat a heavy frying pan on a high heat and season the steaks with salt and pepper. Add the steaks to the pan and sear on each side for 2 minutes, add the balsamic glaze and turn the steaks.
4. Once the glaze has reduced and the steaks are just cooked, either according to the above timings or to your liking, turn off the heat under the pan and allow the glazed steaks to rest.
5. Once the chips have been in the oven for 15 minutes, place the vine cherry tomatoes on a baking tray. Grill in the oven on a lower shelf.
6. Remove the rested steaks and turn the heat back on under the pan. Add the sliced red onion and a splash of water to the hot pan with the remaining glaze and cook until soft and sticky. Pour over the steaks.
7. Remove the McCain Triple Cooked Gastro Chips and roasted tomatoes from the oven. Dress the rocket with some extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar.
8. Serve with the glazed steaks, McCain Triple Cooked Gastro Chips and roasted tomatoes.
