Spaghetti with Butter and Parmesan

Here's an easy one. Next time I'll add garlic.


  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 cups grated parmesan cheese (about 6 oz)
  • Black pepper
6 servings


Heat a pot of salted water over medium-high heat. Add spaghetti and cook until al dente according to the package. Drain, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.

In the same pot over medium heat, add butter, parmesan cheese, and half the pasta water. Stir until melted and smooth. Add the pasta. Toss. Add more pasta water if the pasta seems dry.

Season generously with pepper.
