soy sauce eggs

soy sauce eggs by joanie

This sauce is finger-licking good. You'll want to cook everything in it.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 6 cloves of garlic, roughly chopped
  • 2 in of ginger, sliced
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp five spice powder
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 6 eggs, hard-boiled and peeled
6 servings

Directions

Heat oil in a 2 quart saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, and cook until fragrant. Stir in the stock, soy sauce, five spice, and sugar. Add the eggs and reduce to a vigorous simmer, occasionally stirring the eggs and ladling sauce over them. Cook until the sauce thickens and reduces to a gravy (about 45 minutes).

Serve with a little sauce and maybe sliced green onions over a small bowl of rice.

45 minutes
