lime colada

lime colada by joanie

I feel sorry for coconuts because they are essential to any colada but are never mentioned. The piña variety features pineapple juice. This lime version features fresh lime juice. The common element in both is the coconut, but the word "colada" is the tip-off, not "el coco," which I understand to be the Spanish word for coconut. Apparently "colada" means "strained," and it's unclear as to what that refers to since there's no straining involved when it comes to coladas...unless you have to re-strain yourself from having another! Ha! Colada humor...

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Coco Lopez cream of coconut
  • 2 oz simple syrup
  • 2 oz rum
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 lime, juiced
1 cup

Directions

In a blender, combine Coco Lopez, simple syrup, rum, ice, and juice from 1 lime. Blend until frothy. Pour into a glass and garnish however you like. Enjoy immediately.
