Guinness bread

This loaf has great flavor! Since it uses baking powder instead of yeast, it has a denser, heartier texture than sandwich bread, making it a great snack with just a little butter.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 12 oz Guinness extra stout
1 loaf

Directions

Preheat oven to 350ยบ.

Whisk together the flour, baking powder, oats, sugar, and salt. Slowly whisk in the Guinness just until incorporated, taking care not to overwork it.

Spread the batter into a greased 8x4" loaf pan and sprinkle the top with a little oatmeal. Bake for 1 hour.

Place on a cooling rack until fully cooled.
