orange ice cream

orange ice cream by joanie

This was like an Orange Julius or 1/2-and-1/2 bar. Simple and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large naval oranges
1 quart

Directions

Whisk the eggs and sugar until they turn light in color. Then whisk in the cream and milk.

Zest one of the oranges, and add the zest to the cream. Squeeze the juice of all the oranges, and strain. (You should have nearly a cup of juice.) Add the juice to the cream. Mix well.

Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to your machine.

Transfer to freezer-safe containers and freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.
