This cocktail was created for the 2011 Lab Zero holiday party. During 2011, Lab Zero moved from Pier 38 to Pier 9, and this cocktail celebrates our salad days at the old pier. Pier 38 is near Distillery 209, a distinctive gin with bold flavors. During our time at Pier 38, we had many English visitors who gifted us with a dazzling array of high-quality single-malt scotches; this cocktail includes a splash of the smoky, peaty flavor of Laphroaig. The bright scent of English cucumber freshens it all up.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz orange juice
  • 1/2 oz Lillet Blanc
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup (1:1 sugar & water)
  • 1/4 oz Laphroaig 10 year single malt scotch
  • 1-1/4 oz Distillery 209 gin
  • 3/4 oz soda water
  • English cucumber garnish
1 drink

Directions

Shake lemon, orange, Lillet, simple, Laphroaig and gin with ice. Strain into a glass with fresh ice. Top with soda water, and a garnish of English cucumber.

5 minutes

@joanie - I think as long as it's past a gentlemanly 5 p.m. in the UK, you're good... so 9 a.m. here on the west coast.

Yum! Such fancy spirits! I take it once it's noon and morning has passed, I'm allowed to attempt this drink without shame. Plus, anything with a cucumber constitutes lunch, right?
