Pumpkin Chess Pie

Pumpkin Chess Pie by car2ngrl

There's pumpkin pie and then there this...for the love of pumpkin and praline! This pie is soooo goooood! However, I'd probably serve smaller pieces to avoid sending your guests into sugar overload.

Even better, the praline sauce performs double duty since it's also delish topping a scoop of vanilla ice cream. BONUS!

Ingredients

  • pie pastry for a single crust pie
  • FILLING
  • 1 15oz can of pumpkin
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 5 Tablespoons butter, melted
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup half & half
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • PRALINE SAUCE
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup half & half
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 pie

Directions

Preheat oven to 350ยบ.

Line a pie tin with your pie pastry.

Mix all filling ingredients until smooth.

Place pie tin on oven rack and pour in filling.

Bake 70 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool on a rack.

In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk the sugar, cream, & butter.

Allow to boil for a minute.

Remove from heat and add the nuts and vanilla.

Cool sauce before serving over slices of pie and, possibly, a scoop of ice cream.

about 2 hours
