Chocolate Pecan Pie

If you're having a hard time to decide between a slice of brownie or a slice of pecan pie, then do I have a solution for you...Chocolate Pecan Pie. You get the crunch of pecan with the ooey gooeiness of a fudge brownie.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup
  • 2 Tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 oz (squares) of melted unsweetened chocolate*
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1-1/4 pecan halves
  • 1 unbaked pie shell
  • *I melted the chocolate with the butter in my microwave

Directions

Preheat oven to 400.

Beat eggs.

Mix in the remaining ingredients, except the nuts.

Fold in pecans then pour into the pie shell. Turn pecans rounded side up.

Bake in the center of the oven for 10 minutes.

Then reduce the heat to 325 for another 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown and firm.

If necessary, tent the pie with foil once it reaches the right color.

Remove from the oven and cool.

If desired, serve with whipped cream.
