CHICKPEAS RICE OR CHANA PULAO IN 20 MINS WITH CANNED CHICKPEAS by antonetroajer

Chickpea rice that is also called Chana pulao made with mixed vegetables and spices. Chickpeas rice is one of the best Indian vegetarian rice which is rich in protein.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup BASMATI RICE
  • 15.5 oz CHICKPEAS
  • 1 cup ONION CHOPPED
  • 1 cup CARROTS CHOPPED
  • 2 no GREEN CHILIES
  • 1 cup GREEN BEANS CHOPPED
  • 5 tbsp OIL
  • 1 tsp SALT TABLE
  • 1 tsp CUMIN SEED
  • 1 no CINNAMON
  • 1 no BAY LEAF
  • 2 no CARDAMOM

Directions

Cook rice separately according to package direction or leftover rice works best for this recipe.
Drain liquid content from canned chickpea and rinse with cold water. Make sure to drain off the water completely after rinsing. If you are using dry chickpeas, soak it for 6 - 8 hours and cook until it becomes soft.
In a pan heat oil add cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom, bay leaf, chopped onion, green chilies and cook until onion becomes soft.
Add chopped carrot, green beans and cook until vegetables become soft. Add chickpeas, salt and mix well. Add cooked rice and mix well. Check for the salt and garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
