Blackened Shrimp Tacos

Blackened Shrimp Tacos by culinaryfitness

Blackened Shrimp Tacos are delicious and not too difficult… a little time consuming though, but the reward is excellence! The popularity of fish tacos has skyrocketed in recent years. If you’ve never tried them, you won’t be disappointed. However, if you have these first, then you WILL be disappointed in all the ones you have after these.

Ingredients

  • 12 shrimp - 16/20 or 26/30 size is nice(but whatever you have is fine), peeled and deveined
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp granulated garlic
  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (coconut or avocado oil works well too)
  • 1 lime in wedges
  • 1 avocado or guacamole (click here for guacamole recipe)
  • 4 corn tortilla (or flour if you'd like)

Directions

Make blackening seasoning with salt, paprika, thyme, onion powder, granulated garlic, red pepper, and black pepper. Mix spices together in small bowl.
Toss shrimp with blackening seasoning.
Have pan on medium hi
In medium hi saute pan, add oil and blacken your shrimp.
Cook for only 1 minute on each side, taking care not to burn. If it is too hot, turn the heat down a little.
In another pan over medium heat, heat your tortillas on both sides.
Add a little guacamole or avocado on each tortilla (if you like it that way, if not, it's ok)
Add shrimp and top with mango salsa and sprig of cilantro.
Garnish with lime wedges.

Notes
Optional: Fish and Shrimp tacos are excellent with shredded cabbage as well. I like to toss mine with a little lime juice and salt and black pepper.
