I traded my buttermilk pie recipe for this praline recipe. I have altered it considerably but I promised the tradee that I would always refer to the pralines as "Waggin's Praline"... part of the trade deal...
- 2 tbs oil
- 2 cups of brown sugar, packed
- 2 tbs light karo syrup
- 2 tbs sour cream
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 stick butter
- 2 cups chopped pecans
Heat oil in a 4 qt saucepan.
Add sugar, syrup, sour cream, baking soda.
Heat under medium heat while mixing constantly.
Bring to soft ball consistency (240 degrees)
Mix in butter and vanilla
Remove from heat and mix in pecans.
Pour onto wax paper and let cool.
Break into pieces.
