Avocado Margaritas

Avocado Margaritas by rosemarypepper

One of the first things one does when visiting us in Austin is get hauled over to Curra's for a delicious Avocado Margarita like the one pictured here. This recipe was told to me verbally by someone who claims to know a secret or two. No one at the restaurant was ever consulted on this. Thanks to them for the good times and the inspiration!

Ingredients

  • 4 or more ripe avocados
  • kosher salt or pink Himalayan sea salt
  • 2 or more limes
  • good tequila
  • decent blender
  • stemware
4+

Directions

Fill a 2-gallon Ziplock freezer bag with fresh meat from ripe avocados, pressing most of the air out. Once frozen, this can last a week or longer.

When friends are around, rescue the freezer bag of avocado and get out the blender.

Place frozen avocado into blender with 1 or 2 ounces of tequila per person and the juice of 2 limes, whirr until smooth.

Pour into stemmed glassware that has been pre-salted on the rims.

Enjoy!
