italian meatballs

italian meatballs by joanie

This is an easy and meaty meatball. So good! And I'm proud of Niko for rolling the balls in the picture so uniformly. Nice work!

I recommend these meatballs with marinara sauce:

In case it's not clear, the photo above are of meatballs that aren't cooked. Please forgive me. I forgot to photograph them when they came out of the oven. Just imagine something darker and oiler.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground meat (beef, pork, veal)
  • 1/2 cup panko
  • 2 oz finely grated parmesan or pecorino romano
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
4 servings

Directions

Preheat oven to 400ยบ.

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Then roll meat into balls and place on a baking sheet. (Size depends on preference. I like them smaller, about 1".)

Bake for 30 minutes. (You can give the pan a shake if you want. I let them just sit there and cook.)

Remove and serve with your favorite marinara sauce.

40 minutes
