Bulgogi

Bulgogi by car2ngrl

It's probably an unusual progression for me to go from burger to un-ground beef but here I am. I was craving kimchi and marinated beef, which always seems to bring savory, sweet bulgogi to mind. So I took my Bulgogi Burger and adapted it for just plan Bulgogi.

Obviously, this goes great over steamed rice but it's even better with a side of kimchi, spicy cucumbers, or korean spinach.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef -- something like top sirloin -- cut about 2" wide and 1/4" thick
  • 1 medium carrot, thinly sliced*
  • 1/2 cup roughly chopped green onions
  •
1/3 cup soy sauce
  •
3 tablespoons sugar

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • *I just used the peeler but if you want something more sturdy or dominant, then a julienned carrot would probably also be fine.
2 servings

Directions

Mix all ingredients and marinate for at least 10 minutes.

Stir fry until cooked -- about a couple of minutes. Remove meat.

If juices remain in the pan, reduce for another or minute of so to thicken the sauce then pour over the meat.

Serve with rice and fixings.

about 20 minutes
