Szechuan green beans with tofu

Szechuan green beans with tofu by alchemisty

spicy, tasty, crispy and tender all at once. and super fast and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 lbs fresh green beans
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
  • crushed red pepper flakes, to taste
  • 1/2 lb tofu, cubed
  • white pepper
  • a bit more sesame oil

Directions

Place a medium-large wok or heavy deep skillet over medium high heat.
After a minute, add the 2 oils.
Wait a minute or so, and add the green beans.
Turn the heat to high and stir fry for about 5 minutes, or until the beans are well seared.
Add the garlic, salt, and ginger (and optional red pepper).
Stir-fry for several more minutes, then remove from pan onto plate covered with paper towels.
Add the tofu to the pan with a bit more sesame oil. Let fry for 5 or so minutes, stirring occasionally to grill all sides, and to mix the spices already in the pan into the tofu. sprinkle with white pepper.
Add the green beans back to the pan and stir.

Serve hot, warm, or at room temperature.
