easy bulgogi

easy bulgogi by joanie

Wow! I feel like I discovered gold. This simple recipe is so tasty, and I have to imagine it's the grated onion. Grated onion! So smart...

Note: The meat can be beef rib eye or filet mignon. You know, something good. Be sure to freeze it for 2 hours or so to make it easier to slice, and don't forget to cut against the grain!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 yellow onion, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
  • green onions, thinly sliced
  • toasted sesame seeds
4 servings

Directions

Whisk together the onion, garlic, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and sesame seeds until the sugar has dissolved.

Add the meat and let sit for at least an hour.

Grill the meat or cook it in a lightly oiled cast iron skillet over high heat until the edges of the meat get crispy. Cook in batches to prevent crowding.

Top with green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve with fresh veggies and steamed rice.

I made this for the second time last night. This time I used flank steak as opposed to the rib eye I used the first time around. Still super delicious. A huge hit with my mother-in-law and the rest of the family. I love serving it with steamed bok choy & white rice.
