Here's my mother-in-law's recipe for snickerdoodles. Jan may no longer be with us but she was kind enough to leave us her cookies.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of soften butter (1 stick)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1-1/3 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- dash of salt
- Sugar Coating:
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions
Preheat oven to 400ยบ.
Cream butter in a large bowl.
Add sugar and mix until smooth.
Blend in egg.
Gradually add dry ingredients, making sure each addition is incorporated before adding the next.
In a small bowl, mix the coating ingredients.
Scoop out a heaping teaspoon of dough and roll into a ball with your hands.
Drop the dough ball into the bowl of cinnamon sugar and lightly coat.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet -- at least two inches apart.
Bake 8-10 minutes.
